Try not to think of it as informal rush, and think of it as making friends. That's how the women on the other end are viewing it, if they are doing it right. While you want to put effort into getting to know them, your appearance, etc., don't feel like this is all about impressing them; it's more about looking for a good fit in both directions.
What does that mean in practical terms? Try to have natural, relaxed conversations, just like you would if some women in the dorm invited you to sit with them at lunch. Don't think you need to list off your honors or activities, or ask a ton of sorority-related questions, or anything else like that.
