Perhaps you're on to something.

Yes, we know.
In stadium shots red and burnt orange will blend somewhat, whereas navy would definitely stand out as "we are Ole Miss fans."
When Texas and OU play, you can see the difference, but that is helped by the fact that it is a 50 yard line split and that OU is more crimson than red. When fans are intermingled, it just seemed surprising to pick a color that is within a few shades of the home team when a completely contrasting color was available.

Part of it is we just got brand spanking new uniforms from the Nike NFL Uniform Line. Our Rebels will be styling and profiling. And our Athletic Department wants the fans to have an opportunity to match.

I think the burnt orange doesn't even come close to red. To me it is a stark difference - tons of brown in the orange and the Ole Miss red is more of a true red.

I'm just so glad to see how supportive the Panhellenic community is of ADPi . Alpha Phi is scheduled to colonize in 2015, and I was worried about how a new chapter would be received. Now I'm more excited than ever that we get to be part of such a great system. ( Still trying to wrap my mind around the size of those new member classes!)

Rush 2013
Lots of questions and would LOVE any feedback. Has anyone heard that they are cutting quota next year due to new colonies (I know about ADPi but apparently another is in the works?) I was told by a current member that they are going from 120-130 pledge classes to 90. Anyone else hear this? Also, I've been told 1 rec/1 letter but am reading here that 2 or more for each is better. Would love feedback on that as well! And all of us new moms are so confused about ranking and what the girls should do. That may be off limits for this board, but it is certainly complicated.

I wish I had a dime for every time I've heard people say Pounce instead of Ponce. Puts whole new meaning into the pouncing lion mascot!

And here in Georgia, it's pronounced incorrectly. In Spanish, the explorer's name is pronounced, of course, PON-say day lay-AWNH. So when I moved here eons ago, I would be pronouncing it like that and the locals would fall over laughing and say, "No, we say PONSE dee LEE-on." And they do. Embarrassing when we have foreign visitors. Well, at least ADPi is on a street with "lion" in it!
Of course, in Georgia, the city of Martinez is pronounced MAR-ti-nez and Villa Rica isn't Vee-ya REE-ca, it's VILL-a RICK-a.
Mary Poppins, about all I can add to what HQWest says is the same thing that I say of all SEC schools: that many old-time Greeks have been stunned by the fabulous legacies who have been dropped by their legacy chapters. So-- legacies, make sure you have an open mind.
