I don't know yet. Toledo would be awesome, but I think Obama has Toledo already... probably the more "split" areas since it is a swing state.

One of my daughter's suite mates met President Obama and shook his hand in Williamsburg, when he was preparing for the first debate! She was very excited!

She thinks they will be in Cincinnati. I was hoping for Toledo, because I'd sneak down to see her then!

I'm doing the Christmas baking and really missing Hypo because there are some cookies we have always done together. She's biding her time at school until her ONE final on the 20th. She flies home the morning of the 21st. The Christmas prep has to all be done before then though so I can package up gifts for co-workers and friends. I'm feeling really sad and missing her today.

*hugs*
If you need a surrogate daughter until she gets here, I would be more than happy to lick the spoon.

Whooohooo!!!
Whooohooo!!!
Is she also considering joining AOII's colony?
I mean I know that you want her to find her home no matter where it is.
I think that I read in here somewhere that the colony is really emphasizing leadership.
Either way, congratulations! Just one of the steps there. What made her decide, other than her mom?

She IS???? Oh, what unexpected and thrilling news!
Of course, if she decides to pursue the new colony instead...

She is going to consider ALL options, including, possibly, the new colony. She likes the idea of the new colony, whose recruiting materials so far have expressed that they're emphasizing leadership. She also likes the idea of a group with no existing reputation and, of course, an Alpha chapter.
She has met a lot of sorority women on campus through band and Columbia Democrats and Faces of Barnard and other things she is involved in. She said even though it is a smaller school, she still thinks she would make more strong bonds in a sorority than she has through other extracurricular activities.
I hadn't mentioned it in a while although she did call one day and ask if I would pay for her dues if she joined. I told her I would. She is using some of the gift cards and cash she got for Christmas to get recruitment clothes She said she's just going to be herself and see what happens.

Is there a AGD at Columbia? Also for what it's worth I have met some outstanding sorority women say Columbia.

There is not an AGD chapter at Columbia. In fact, I confessed to her this weekend what I did when she was an infant.
She was talking about a discussion they had in a class about the Gotye song, Somebody That I Used to Know. They theorized that it was so popular because the beginning of it sounds just like "Baa Baa Black Sheep". People don't realize that, but it seems familiar to them so they like it.
At that point, since there is no Alpha Gam chapter at Columbia, I informed her that all of the lullabies I sang to her before she turned one were actually Alpha Gam songs. I hoped that some day, when she was at Preference parties, one of those songs would be sung and she'd just get this inexplicable warm, fuzzy feeling and know she was "home." So yes, I tried to brainwash my baby into wanting to be an Alpha Gam. My kids thought that was both brilliant and hilarious.
