Who is still lurking around here?

Hi, ladies!I was just wondering who is checking in here. I miss the days when this forum was booming!

I check the board from time to time. I'm still active in Online Kappa, and I get to attend a real-life Founder's Day event this year with a fellow OLK sister. Yay! I've been thinking a lot about the future of our sorority and how we can get young women involved, as well as how we can mesh the generations of sisters with a greater sense of unity.

 What are you up to?

 Erica

 | I'm an active member of NY-Preceptor Kappa and I applied for a Beta Sigma Phi scholarship. I find out at the Founder's Day dinner whether or not I got it!

			Present!
You all will be pleased to know that Alpha Omega Beta took part in Tusculum's Open House last week and we had six girls sign our guest page, one girl who took an interest sheet, and five girls who were in a sister's tour group and didn't see the table but asked about her badge.

als463: Good luck with the scholarship! Fingers crossed for you.
ElieM: Haha! I guess "lurking" sounds sort of negative. I guess I meant who is stopping by the board.

ElleLeann: Yay for Alpha Omega Beta! How exciting that you are getting out and meeting your future sisters...even if they don't know it yet.
Who else is out there???

I still look in this forum!!
I am also still active--I transferred to an Exemplar chapter last year. I jumped right in and became Council Rep. This year I was selected as 2014 State Convention Co-Chair, will remain as my chapter's council rep., and was just elected City Council VP.

I'm not here much anymore, I've requested MAL status this year as (sadly) I'm not feeling this year's theme. My land chapter is 90% women of retirement age, and I'm 35. So maybe it's time to look for something else.

travelingBSP: I'm sorry to hear you are going mal, but I completely understand. My chapter is a mix this year with half the members at retirement age and half around 30. If there were not younger sisters in my chapter I would probably go mal also. Also, I am president this year, so I am hoping to try to encourage changes that will appeal to a younger (30-40 year olds) crowd going forward, such as more socials outside of meetings. At the moment, our socials end up being the group of us hanging out after the meeting to chit chat and play games. I would like to see us go out more, such as to plays or museum, even just for coffee, so people see us and realize we exist.

Venusloves11: How did it go???? I'm excited for you!
travelingBSP: I'm sorry that you feel the need to go MAL, but you have to do what is best for you. I'm a little confused though. The theme has very little to do the basic operations of the chapters that I've been in. Did your chapter do a lot with the annual theme? Most years, I wouldn't even remember what it was if the theme art wasn't printed in our yearbook.

Hi ladies - I have been inactive for a few years, but got invited to a land chapter with women that are not of retirement age and are open to having Sisters of all degrees and ages comprise their chapter. Most if not all of these women from what I understand are age 40 or less and are actually looking forward to Rushing in the spring.
For the past few days I have been working with International HQ to figure out what my degree status actually is, as I should be advanced now past ROJ. I have been a BSP for 10 years as of October...that is crazy to believe.

Sad to say most of the ladies from my first land chapter have either moved on to other states or...eternally.

This new chapter I am going to visit is part of another City Council. There are 3 CCs in the area and 2 constantly fight amongst themselves and have issues. Not interested in that at all. So...enough about me. I was glad to see some familiar names on the roll call here.

For those new to BSP, Rushing or visiting new chapters, best of luck to you. My hometown where I grew up has 2 chapters that are successful and booming. Their sisterhood appears quite strong. A lot of these ladies are my age (or a bit older) but have more advanced degrees since they started in BSP when they were 18 or 19 or in their early to mid 20s.

 Mizpah!
