UNC Sorority Recruitment: Transfers

Okay, I've seen a few threads, but they seem rather out of date, so I thought I'd create a new one.

I'm currently a student at an SEC school and was out of town during recruitment. For financial reasons, as well as academic, I'm hoping to transfer to UNC and I was curious about their recruitment process. I know the SEC has the toughest, but how does UNC compare?
Will I look 'bad' as a sophomore?
Do I need 2 recs for every house (need as in it's highly encouraged)?
Can I have recs from current members?
How much of a shot do you think I have? My biggest fear is getting cut, do girls tend to be completely dropped from the recruitment process at Carolina? I know about 80 do at my school each year.

Sorry for so many questions, I really just could not handle being dropped from the whole process!

Thanks,
Holen

I believe that UNC holds formal recruitment in the fall.

I cannot address whether you will look bad as a sophomore rushing. The best defense would be to make yourself as attractive a sophomore as possible, so get involved on your present campus, keep your gpa up(or raise it if need be), keep your reputation clean.

2 Recs. to every house would not hurt you, especially as a sophomore.

Different sororities have different policies regarding who is eligible to submit a rec. for a PNM-you will need to find out what each groups requirements are.

You need to give it a try. If someone asks you why you didn't join a sorority at your former college, you could say that you had decided to transfer, and wanted to see where you would best fit in at UNC-CH.

I am a recent grad of UNC. I did not go through formal recruitment but I did have many friends that did and some sophomores including my roommate sophomore year who transferred to UNC and then went through recruitment that fall. UNC recruitment is not as competitive as an SEC school but recs wouldn't hurt you but they are not required as a more competitive school. Recruitment always occurs the weekend of Labor day in the fall and there are some chapters that have informal recruitment in the spring. You can check out http://www.uncpanhellenic.com/ for more information. Good luck on your transfer!
