Do you mean that all 17 houses are not at total, not even one of them?
Or do you mean that not all 17 houses are at total, but some are?

Sorry, I meant that some are (I feel like most are, given the pledge class sizes of each house over the last few years) but some are not.

Wow...that's a huge change in meaning. I ignored your first post since it seemed to say that all the chapters were now below total which would obviously not be right.

mini rant: I feel like the practice of setting chapter to "average" size right after formal recruitment is only good if it's not done every year and if there's not a large gap in size. When it's done every single year, like NPC suggests, it hurts the small chapters that never caught up. It increases the competition for the pool of COB PNMs. So the big get bigger and the small eventually close.

Maybe I'm really out of touch, but as I understand the current situation at UGA, it's not as though there are 5 strong chapters and 12 that aren't doing well.

I believe that all 17 chapters are relatively strong, and have solid numbers at recruitment.

I also seem to remember reading that UGA was starting to defer some incoming Freshman til second semester of the school year - that's where I could see an increased total being a boon, when combined with a Spring Rush.

Granted, the last time I participated in Rush at UGA, it was still called Rush and dinosaurs took us to parties.

my understanding is that the gap has shrunk tremendously at UGA.

There's still a gap, but it's not what it was.

My read on the situation, based on inference (and only inference from a few things I've seen) - this is a good, informed move by Panhellenic, with support of NPC delegates and Inter/National Councils of NPC groups represented on campus.

Average chapter size is the best alternative to Max or Median chapter size.

If you can get that to pass Panhellenic.

At our campus we currently change total to median chapter size right after formal. The problem with that is that we always have a few ladies drop in every chapter. Last year every chapter was COBing except 1.
