I can't believe I missed this when it was originally posted.
When we were planning our wedding, it was in the back of my head to get a TARDIS cake. DH has been a Whovian since he was a little boy, and, while I'd seen some Classic Who while growing up, it was he who really got me into the show.
What stopped us?
(a) We had a relatively small wedding, so the one wedding cake was quite sufficient. (The practical reason.)
(b) Everyone would have assumed it was a groom's cake, and I would not have a groom's cake without a bride's cake. (Yeah, yeah, I know, the "bride's cake" is supposed to be the 4-tier cake coated in white fondant. But I'd have wanted a bride's cake shaped like the starship
Enterprise. As Scotty put it, "NCC one seven oh one. No bloody A, B, C, or D." Although support for the warp nacelles might have been problematic...)
