That is the only way that the OP can know whether there is a chance at the particular collegiate chapter.
As for the general topic, GCers, please stop telling everyone "do you really wanna hang with 18 year olds". As soon as the OP put "M.I.P." that should have told some of you that he was talking about non-NPC/non-NIC. In general, there is no age limit for the NPHC at the collegiate and alumnae/alumni/graduate levels. Individual chapter practices vary but it is not about a formal criteria or about whether a 33 year old wants to party with 18 year olds.

I humbly apologize for not knowng that MIP indicates NPHC. That is why I ASKED the question. I try my best to stay out of NPHC threads, but it can be tricky when OPs don't bother to give us enough information.

Even if it ISN'T NPHC...there are campuses out there where the average age of the members is far above 18. Reinforcing the stereotype that you join as an 18 year old only defeats all the flowery language that the NPC put out a while ago about reaching out to commuters, returning students, etc. It also doesn't help with chapter retention if you put across Greek membership as basically "just something you do until you're old enough to go to the bar."

"M.I.P."/"Membership Intake Process" is most likely NPHC just like "recruitment" is most likely NPC with no need for additional information.
If the OP was doing what he needs to do as an Omega aspirant, he would have no need to ask this question let alone ask this question to nonOmega randoms on a GLO message board. Message!

Preach!
Yet there are tons of threads in which NPC or NIC hopefuls are told that they need to give up hope and move to a deserted island if they are over a certain age or year in college.

Oh, I'm not about to tell a young woman going through rush at LSU that her age/class standing doesn't matter. I wish I could, but I know I can't.
But the thing is, there are many campuses out there where it doesn't. (Just as there are many campuses that don't use rec letters, don't get super dressed up for rush, etc etc). To assume that at EVERY school being over 18 = kiss of death for rush is kind of like assuming every chapter of your GLO is exactly the same.

Exactly. This is my campus. And actually, twice within about a 4 year period, my chapter initiated women in their last semester of school - one of which is VERY active as an alumna.
This is why it drives me crazy when people say, "You have little to no chance," without knowing where the OP goes to school.

I completely agree with this! I know some schools are competitve, but that doesn't apply for everyone.
