I didn't mean literally same-day, so much as I meant "without months of preparation". From what you are describing, on the whole, I would say it isn't that competitive. I think it sounds like my alma mater, where there can be stiff competition for top chapters and seriously broken hearts, but on the whole, it works out if you keep an open mind.
