Muslim Greeks?
Are there any here on GC?
If you are one, how do you reconcile being a "good" Muslim with the social scene (and stigma) attached to Greek culture?

OK, I'm not Muslim, but a gal in my chapter was. As far as her religion making a difference in being Greek, well, one she didn't drink. But we had lots of sisters who didn't. Two, for composites she wore a conservative black sweater rather than those awful drapey things.

The ydont seem to have probs with balancing their religion with greek life.

Musilum (sic ) is a religion just like all religions!
We are Greek Social Organizations mainly Based on Christianity.
I have Brothers that are Hindu, Musilam or what the Heck ever but they are still Brothers as they went through the same Ritual as I did.
There is a difference in everything and We Are all different on this site. We have a common thread, we beleive in each other and have a bond that NO ONE will Break! Right?
"May the power above bless all of us as we are one!"

Awful drapey things? The proper name is Hijab.

I think what FuzzieAlum meant when she said "awful drapery things" was that when women take their composite pictures, we are put in this piece of cloth that attaches with velcro in the back. It is almost like a drapery. They are uncomfortable and smelly. I don't think she was referring to the young Muslim woman's clothing.

Yes, sorry if that caused any confusion, but by "awful drapey thing" I meant the annoying velvet cloth the creepy composite photographers wrap around us for the annual photographs. Not a hijab, which this sister did not wear anyway. Because those wraps reveal the shoulders, she considered it immodest.

The ATO house on my campus has a Morroccan fella. Probably Islamic... Most Morroccans are.... Never asked. It's funny though -- even the ATO badge is a cross
