The chapter there will need to accept someone who carries a different culture with them.

Perhaps at your owl chapter a lot of the pledge process went under the rug (as in you did some stuff you would never tell others) and this new chapter doesn't do that. Bringing you in where this was the norm could harm the chapter as a whole if you gain enough power to bring your culture over to the new chapter and make it the new culture.
Although I don't agree with everything in this post, I do agree that if your chapter is on the fringes and you bring your traditions with you, it is more likely the second chapter will be adversely affected.

Every organization has untouchable chapters. If your chapter doesn't have the same cachet, it is you that will be made example of for the very same traditions.

I've seen it.

Methinks this person has already been turned down, and now wants to smear FIJI.

He certainly came across that way, didn't he? It reminded me of the character Bulldog on the Frasier show. Whenever he couldn't find something, he would immediately start ranting and raving screaming "This stinks, this is total BS" ; anyway, this is what I think of when I read the OP's posts.

Also, you seem to be misunderstanding what brotherhood is. You are not going to lose your status as a Brother. Instead, you will just go to alumni status a little early.

Thanks for pointing that out then.

The only OWL chapters of AEPhi I can think of would be at either Temple or FAU. There is a chapter at Temple, but none at FAU (I could say why, but it's kinda a long story, I really want there to be one though)

IUHoosiergirl, I haven't heard the term "royal doucher" in awhile and your post made me chuckle! And I checked the site I assumed you were referring to and saw the posts you referenced. I think your assumption is spot on and you have identified the correct school.

Since I think we know the school, I can tell the OP that if he is serious about re-affiliating with his chapter, he needs to put in serious work this summer. The chapter is serious about academics and philanthropy, men from this chapter hold most of the steering committee and committee chairs for the campus wide dance marathon. The chapter has a high GPA. The OP probably knows several chapter members already if he is from the large city in the center of the state. OP: contact the chapter leadership now this summer. They need to know you're interested, they hand out most of their in-coming freshman bids over the summer and these men will move into the house immediately. Also, take a summer class or two if you can to raise your GPA. They are your brothers, but you have to make the first move. Best wishes on your transfer!

I am a Fiji (Phi Gam) advisor, and with this kid's attitude, I can't imagine any chapter of any worth wanting him to be able to affiliate. I often tell guys who transfer that they are like "rushees" again; they need to put their best foot forward and impress the new chapter by making a good impression. It's always important to feel wanted, but it's also important to realize that there is no free ride--life is about how we act and how those actions are perceived and then how we are treated based on those perceptions.

As for the "owl chapter" thing, our mascot is and always has been the snowy white owl; it's on our crest. But in all the years I have been a Fiji (over 40), and all the years I have advised in one capacity or another (over 25), I have not heard of the title of "owl chapter" as a top chapter. Now it could be a regional or state title that someone has come up with to deliniate a high-functioning group, but it's news to me.

I might have--at some point--excused this young man's attitude as being a bandage for being fearful of transferring and not being accepted, but his comments about community service and general demeanor make me wonder why he was pledged in the first place. Also, I have to wonder if he is, indeed, an initiated member of Phi Gamma Delta. (NOTE: When I first looked at his site, I PM'ed him to offer assistance from an advisor's experience; he has declined to contact me as of yet.)

LOL, I'm sure there is no such term affiliated w/ Fiji. I have no doubt jazing simply had a T9 typo and was trying to say "old chapter." (If you ever got a text where someone said foot where they should have said don't, it's the same principle.)

LOL-I wondered about "OWL chapter" too and thought it might refer to the owl mascot. OLD makes so much more sense.

My worst one is actually on my phone. If I'm rushing and I type "te" for "the," I get "ye." Last week, I asked my sister to meet me at "ye glass dodo" instead of "the glass doors."

Oh, good thought, 33girl! I had not factored in the "typo" possibility. It is really an odd coincidence, though, with our Fiji owl mascot and the "owl" chapter.
