If you think the people here are mean, wait until you start the pledging process of an unregulated underground sorority. Just sayin'.

The GLO is a multicultural sorority, so city-wide chapters and chapters not affiliated with the school don't automatically = hazing frenzy

I realize that. It's not hard to figure out what group and school she's talking about. Certain areas of the country have a less kind and gentle perspective on pledging, especially where there isn't an administration to answer to. (and of course different groups have vastly different views on what activities constitute hazing.) Like I said, I'm just sayin'.

No school administration to answer to does not equal no one to answer to.

I'm just clarifying.

Of course, but like I said before, definitions of hazing vary tremendously from group to group. A school adds an additional level of accountability.

Sometimes. Sometimes, not. Sometimes, really not.

Then is she really rushing an "underground" sorority? A citywide chapter doesn't = underground, no more than a chapter not recognized by the school = underground. Underground = chapter not recognized by the school OR the national, and you run risk of getting kicked out of school and/or sued by the national group if you join.

KeepOnSinging, it would behoove you to learn the proper terminology for your situation as organizations/chapters of orgs that are not "underground" do not cotton to being referred to as such - it puts an unsavory pallor over the proceedings.
