Upperclassmen quota often doesn't mean that's how things end up. At many schools, upperclassmen quota is, for all intents and purposes, "sophomore quota."

You will never get a bid if you don't rush, but be honest with yourself about how you will emotionally handle what will very likely be a brutal process for someone in your situation (which is not unique at all.)
