"Don't dress like a hoe." LOL!

The ironic thing is that the examples she showed would have been hoes back in the day.

How times have changed...

Nike shorts and shoes? Really? That just seems like so...the opposite of Southern propriety to me.

Spell check would have been nice too. Just sayin'.

Although I did literally LOL at this: "I suggest you pretend you are interested in the skits, even if they suck."

Nike shorts+ large t shirt+ nice tennis shoes= southern sorority girl uniform

I am not surprised that Nike shorts are recommended for rush. They are more flattering than khaki shorts and you don't see sweat like you can with the cotton shorts. They are much more comfortable in the heat too.

Very true. It's a universal uniform and we call the shorts "Norts."

My daughter was surprised when she did her graduate work at Bama that as DDDLady said, nike shorts or what my daughter called cheerleading shorts, big t-shirt and athletic shoes was the daily outfit for most of the girls.

I am still baffled that the only difference in the "uniform" between the winter and summer is the addition of a sweatshirt or the occasional pair of track leggings under the Norts.

It doesn't get that cold in the winter down here. Plus, put black leggins under those shorts and your legs look better/skinnier.

Growing up in the 90s I (along with all my classmates) was wearing Soffe Brand shorts. They were nylon and they came in every color in the spectrum. I had a pair in every color. I wanted to wear them everywhere, but I eventually learned they weren't appropriate to wear everywhere. Especially when I wanted to make a good impression. Places like college classes and RECRUITMENT!

Well, I would like to see her "black and white summer dress" before I made a decision. Lots of times guys think we are more dressed up than we really are, when actually a dress is super comfy and a lot easier to wear than pants. I had a "summer dress" I wore often to the grubbiest bar in town. That was because it was easy-care and a lot cooler temperature-wise than pants or shorts.

Seriously, my comment wasn't that the guys are being rude, it's that the girls are being egregiously stupid. They shouldn't expect the guys to dress up...the guys are actually the quite sensible ones in this scenario. It must be nice to be a college student and have $$ for dry cleaners, high-end makeup and $200 shoes and purses (don't get me started on purses) that it's OK if they get beer spilled on them. I just don't get it. Put on jeans or a skirt from Target and a cute top. Life is not a Hollywood premiere.

She makes a good point though. The last time I went home, which I think was 3 years ago, I almost died at the girls on the Square dressing like Jersey Shore. I literally STOPPED dead in the road, asked my bf, "What the crap is happening," and went to Ajax (restaurant on the Square). A friend of mine was bartending and I asked him what was up with the Jersey Shore. He said the look had taken over recently. Sad and scary what some of these good Southern girls were wearing.

I think my favorite part was the Grove attire. Of course in my time we called it Grovewear. Either way, I knew EXACTLY what she had in mind. Great video!
