Okay I just have to defend this girl for a minute. If she has read through threads on this site, she knows that gpa is very important, connections within the chapters are very important, and at some schools your high school is very important. She was just stating her information to get feedback. I really didn't think she came across as full of herself, she was just putting forth the information which probably would have been asked of her anyway had she not.

I agree, but most of the responses are just telling her that, in spite of everything she may have working in her favor, the fact that she is a junior means she has a lot to overcome.

Also, we typically don't look favorably on people naming names. She could have just said that she has friends in four different sororities.

The main problem is that she named the chapters that she has friends in. This makes her appear to be targeting those chapters. Pineapple is correct..she has basically "outed" herself by stating her high school (because we all know that Highland Park is the premier high school in Dallas). The problem with this is that she will now come across as only being interested in those 4 chapters and the other 10 will dismiss her in a hurry. All 14 chapters at UT have representation from HPHS, so most likely there is someone in every chapter that will know the OP or know of her. If they see this thread, it could be bad news for her.

There's nothing to defend! No one is being rude here. This is just honest feedback (which is what I'm assuming she came here for.)

We would be in the wrong to be like "OMG your friends all totally want you in their sorority and you're for sure in because you went to a prestigious HS."

It's more helpful to be honest and let her know that while it is really great that your HS is prestigious, there will be plenty more girls with those same (or better connections (who like it or not will have the edge in recruitment because they're freshmen.)
