You know - it is a lot like recruitment. I had lots of opportunities from the college I chose, I might have had different ones if I had gone to the other choice. I was upset when my first choice turned me down, my original plan was to transfer, but I realized I would not have been happy there in the long run and stayed. The one I chose worked out great for me, I had a good education and got into a good graduate program. It helped to help make me me.
... and as for not being the "sorority type" - if you only knew how many times I heard that.

Here is the status/rundown:
University of Michigan- Accepted, signed up for the Residential College program
DePaul- Accepted- $52K scholarship over 4 years, brings the cost down to the cost of U of M
Washington U.- St. Louis- Rejected
Waiting to hear from:
American University
Barnard
Brown
Columbia
Northwestern
Wellesley
And yes, I think some of you are right. It is all hitting them suddenly. She and her friends are having little spats and they all seem pretty uptight right now. They just started the third trimester.. so this is absolutely it. I was going through that at the same time that Blair and Jo were going through it on Facts of Life. They graduated the same month that I did and I remember bawling my eyes out during that episode. They are just on an emotional roller coaster right now.
This is a lot like recruitment but it lasts so much longer!

That is such a long list! I "applied" to 1 university. I was pre-accepted so there was none of this. At least she's got a couple in the bag so she doesn't have to worry about being homeless come fall. I'm interested to hear more. I really wanted to go to school in Washington DC, so I guess I'm rooting for American. And Wellesley has such an amazing tradition of world leaders coming out of there. So I'll root for them second, with Northwestern taking up 3rd place.

The waitlist to Wellesley has her pretty convinced that Northwestern, Brown and Columbia will be definite rejections. She's hoping and praying for Barnard. The American acceptance coming in last night helped a lot though. She's very into politics and it's a very politically oriented school and the internship possibilities there are great.

I am checking this thread constantly! It's replaced Badge Trends as my top at the moment (but don't tell thetygerlily, please).
Tell her to send positive energy out into the universe! No room for negative thinking. The admissions committee at Wellesley is not necessarily using the same criteria as the others you've listed.

A lot of people on the College Confidential Northwestern threads are predicting that Northwestern will announce tonight. They have announced on the 4th Thursday of the month for the past 4 years. That's the only one your daughter and my daughter still have in common.
Good luck to hypoallergenic on all the rest, especially her favorite - Barnard!!!

I keep hoping every time this thread is bumped that she has heard more/decided. I also applied for 8 universities and had friends who applied to more. Good luck!

I think I applied to seven, but I was accepted to George Mason first, and it was my first choice, so they rest of it was just gravy. I knew she would get into American!
