Quota will not be set until panhellenic sees how many girls attend pref parties. Some girls might drop out once the see their schedules..hopefully not, but it happens. I am going to go out on a limb and guess between 60-70.

(((hugs))) to those of you who were released. There really are no words that any of us can say that will make you feel better today..however, it will get better.
As Pinapple said, you may have a chance to rush again as a sophomore. UT has a sophomore quota, although not all of the chapters utilize it. The best advice if you really want to be in a sorority, is to make as many connections with other girls as you can this year. I have personally seen a case where a girl had a very bad experience her freshman year because she knew literally no one and had no one pulling for her. She went out and met tons of girls and had a great rush the next year. There is no guarantee..however, it can happen..keep that in mind.

TexasToast, I know it's probably not what you were thinking, and I am not a member of SDT, but you might consider them. Although they used to be the only option for Jewish girls, now they are not exclusively Jewish and are, as far as I've ever known, open to girls who are not Jewish. They don't do formal rush at all campuses so they are probably not on your radar. If you want to be in an NPC sorority, you might at least check them out. Your Greek Life office should be able to help with that. Best of luck with whatever you choose to do.

For the girls who got released... would also suggest looking into COB or the Sigma Delta Tau. What seems like bad news today might turn into being something great!

I am a sophomore too...! The thing is that they said and acted like they wanted me.... It hurts so bad! I will try the COB but for the SDT I don't know anything about them. I heard that they don't have any house yet.... I will check on them for sure

There are pictures on their Facebook page of their new house. It appears pretty modest compared to the chapters that participate in formal rush, but even if not everyone gets a chance to live there, having a physical place to drop by can still be really cool.

It sounds like they are approaching this as something similar to a brand new colonization: national representatives are coming in and looking for women from all class years.

Good rushers make everyone feel welcome. That's why they're good! Unfortunately, you can think that they are treating you differently than other girls and assume you are on more solid ground than you actually are.

SDT may not have a house, but they have other things to offer.

COB is continuous open bidding - my understanding is that it is only available to chapters that are not at total. I think there are only 2 or 3 chapters that participate.

Check with the Univ. of Texas Panhellenic Office for those names. We do not know which, if any, chapters will be adding members until after the present recruitment process is completed.
