anyone ever hosted a bowling philanthropy event??

hey yall! i'm the vp community service of my kappa delta chapter, and we've all been anticipating a change in our philanthropy event for a while now. many girls have suggested some kind of bowling event, however none of them seem to have any idea how we could logistically do it. if anyone has had experience hosting a bowling tournament/event, please give me some hints and pointers!! thanks so much!

My DZ alum group just did a bowling tournment and we raised $1000. We charged $20 a person with a 3 person minimum and 5 person max on each team. We allowed alums and collegiates so it was great for the older and younger women to hang out. We had a small, but good, silent auction that helped and all the food was donated by a local pizza place. You'd be surprised how easy it can be to get local restaurants to give to philanthropy events!!! We also had a bunch of really cool prizes for the winner of each team and the overall winning team. I hope that helps! Feel free to PM if you want to ask any other questions.

Yeah, tournaments are awesome. They're not very original, but they're a proven way to do philanthropy.

Some of the larger philanthropies that GLOs on my campus throw include a dodgeball tournament, basketball tournament, and a softball tournament.

Charge teams a high entry fee, reach out to non-Greeks by facilitating with team-matching, and provide a few prizes for the top places. Good luck!

Not that I know off, but that could be really fun. You could organize a deal with a local bowling place though- it would be a great way to reach the community also and not just greeks.

The Alpha Omicron Pi chapter at Eastern Kentucky University does this. They have done it for several years and is quite popular.

Same! I love bowling philanthropies! We just did one as a sisterhood even and that was a lot of success.

Add a dance party afterwards. This way, you can sell two sets of tickets - one for the tournament and one for the party. You can also sell a ticket for both at a cheaper price. You're going to set aside a day for it anyway so maximize it. Good luck!
