The recs can be from any member of the sorority, no matter the chapter. However, some sororities allow collegiates to write recs and some don't. Your friends will be able to answer that question for their specific group. If they are not allowed to write them, ask if they can help you make a connection with an alumnae.

The Florida Alligator (independent newspaper at UF) is reporting that 300 pmns have signed up for spring recruitment. They are also reporting that 11 of the sororities are participating. (Article states 11 of 15 sororities - I thought UF had 16.)
According to irishpipes's recruitment thread, Florida Panhellenic raised total after Fall's rush. May be the reason that more groups are participating in spring rush.

Yes, I read that article, too. They are preparing for 300 women to attend tonight, but that many have not signed up quite yet. Although it is getting to be the highest number of women preregistering ever! (Exciting!)
And, yes, total was raised into the 180s. This increased the number of chapters participating. Especially because total was raised after Fall Recruitment!
Up to 11 may participate, but at least 9 are confirmed to be participating! I won't say which, as they can still choose not to or to do it last minute until tonight. So, if you are thinking of going but want to know who is there, I guess you'll just have to go!!
Have a good time, ladies!
Thank you for compiling all that, LaneSig!

Hey guys, this is probably pretty pointless to post on here, I just don't know anyone else going through recruitment so I figured this was the best place to ask about it.
Tonight we all met in the ballroom and had 45 minutes to meet-and-greet the 11 houses present. Tomorrow is the real "rushing" part. It was very informal, and there were WAY more PNMs than there were sisters. It was pretty hectic and a lot of the houses I went to they would talk to me for a minute or two and then be like "it was great meeting you! If you want to sign on our sheet, we'll see you tomorrow!"
I understand that a lot of the chapters didn't have enough time/sisters to dedicate to a full conversation tonight, but....was I getting completely blown off or was tonight not real rushing?
I'm just really nervous because I didn't even get to speak to a sister from 4 or 5 houses. I'm sad because now I feel like I already missed my chance or something.

I think you answered your own question. There weren't enough sisters there to spend time rushing PNMs. They were there just to show that they were open to take new members and to sign up PNMs. Don't read more into it than that.

This sounds like maybe they got more PNM's then they were expecting?

Maybe. I was just stressing because apparently in prior years there was no day two. So I feel like day one is really important and that I need to make a good impression! But there isn't really anything I can do about it now and I really liked a couple of the houses that I did get a chance to speak with tonight.

Do PNMs get a chance to visit each of the 11 chapters or do PNMs have a limit on the number of chapter to which they can return?

So now that the first event is done, which 11 chapters ended up participating?

I would not take that personally at all. Think of it as a receiving line. They want to say hello to you, be polite and move onto the next person. They can appreciate that you were interested in actually talking to them, but that mad house was not the time or place.
I'm interested to hear how night 2 goes!

it is very possible that each chapter was limited to "x" amount of sisters who could be present last night. With so many pnms there, i am sure that the sisters wanted to get to say hello to as many as they could, and at the same time did not want to detain any pnms too long so that the pnms could visit as many tables as they could. that could be why noone was engaging in in depth conversation.
look at tonight as a new beginning, go enjoy yourself and let us know how it goes. good luck!

So for those of you who were wondering... We have between 12 and 7 today to visit all 11 houses. We must visit EVERY house in order to receive a bid from any of them.
The 11 houses are: AXO, AOPi, ChiO, Tri Delta, DG, DZ, DPhiE, KD, Phi Mu, Pi Beta Phi, and SK
