I also want to tell you to RELAX. Even at the very big rushes, most PNM's who have recs and haven't done anything terrible end up with a bid. It may not be from the most popular group, but every NPC group has a very strong sisterhood.

I have this very irrational fear I won't get into any college or end up going to the community college in my town. It's weird because I get great grades, have extra-curriculars, am involved at school and so far have done well on prep tests. Once I actually GET into a college, I'll then proceed to stress about recruitment for absolutely no apparent reason. I just stress about things until they work out, then I feel ridiculous for worrying in the first place! Oh well...

I know it's silly for me to think about these things so young. I'm not kidding you, I've been thinking/talking to my parents about college and how I'll do on the ACT/SAT since I was twelve.

I really do appreciate the advice everyone.

Too young to be learning? No.

Too young to be deciding? Yes, yes, a million times yes.

As others have said, the things you do to prepare yourself for rush are things you should be doing to prepare yourself for college and young adulthood in general. It's not like you're going to take a semester off school to go to a sorority camp that will be pointless if you end up not joining one in college.

I realized deciding wasn't the best word to use. I'm sorry! What I meant by deciding is whether or not I plan on rushing so I could start figuring out who my parents knew in what sororities and learning more about recruitment/the foundation of sororities in general. Again, I apologize. I know that wasn't very clear. Don't worry, I don't know a thing about the sororities other than what they are.

I'm definitely going to continue being involved, get involved in more activities and become more well-rounded so I actually will get into a college. I know if I become the absolute best student I can be, and get into a college, I can then worry about recruitment. It's really reassuring to know just staying involved, keeping my grades where they should be and improving conversational skills is the best way for me to prepare at my age.
