Young boy wishes to join Girl Scouts

I was a little confused about that. It says

Girl Scouts is an inclusive organization, and we accept all girls in kindergarten through 12th grade as members. If a child lives life as a girl and the family brings the child to us to participate in Girl Scouts, Girl Scouts of Colorado welcomes her.

but it does not say if the boy is trying to live the life as a girl or just a boy who wants to be involved in Girl Scouts.

That's what I was confused about at first, but the video seems to suggest that he's interested in living life as a girl.

I feel like we have one of these stories every few years and it's more about media sensationalism and good WBC fodder rather than what the child actually wants.

Mevara, I think the statement where "If a child lives life as a girl", means that the child, no matter what their (ahem), "body parts / plumbing" reflect, if they are expressing to the world a gender identity that is consistent with girls (i.e. barrettes, more feminine type clothing, that type of thing), then the child will be accepted.

I've read enough psychology / human biology books about kids who were born with anatomy that was either disfigured, or in some extreme cases, they have some sex characteristics of both male and female, so it wasn't clear cut as to whether they were male or female. I think the Girl Scouts organization is trying to leave the wording of their policy as wide open as possible, so that they don't get backed into a corner by wording that is (inadvertantly) limiting.
