G's diagnosis is cancer. She'll see a surgeon next week to develop a plan of action. The scene at the band lockers just now when the group of girls who hang together found out was not good. Many teenage girls in tears. G, however, is putting on a very brave front, determined to fight and beat it.

Hope and prayers to your daughter's friend. I do data entry for the American Cancer Society and when I see those quite young who have cancer diagnoses, it breaks my heart...but I just try to keep the faith that they will be ok and everything will work out.

Today was T's funeral and it's tearing me apart that I was all the way across the country when I wanted nothing more than to be with my other friends back east. I know all that stuff I said about her deserving a rest after such a long fight and that I'm still thankful for the small miracle of having her longer. Waking up from a coma was huge and quite frankly, living for 3 months when the doctors gave you 24 hours is downright badass. All of that is still true. But the fact that she's gone is finally starting to sink in and I'm really struggling right now. I couldn't be there, so I just took a quiet moment this afternoon to say goodbye. And that really hurt.

Asking for some prayers for my sister in law. She's pregnant and is having complications. She just needs to get to 35 weeks...

Lifting both up in prayer.

I talked to G's mom tonight. G is stage 4 with mets to the lungs and several other organs. They are going to start with chemo in hopes of getting rid of those smaller spots and shrinking the main tumor before doing surgery to remove the main tumor in and around the uterus. G and her mom are determined that the chemo is going to work and she will beat this. Several kids in the band have pledged to shave their heads when G loses her hair. We're organizing band parents to make some meals for the family when things get nuts and organizing sections of the band to rotate weeks for being in charge of keeping G cheered up. G is back in school now and marched in tonight's half time performance, trying to live her life as normally as possible.

I know that quoting oneself is weird but this same family who lost the baby girl at 24 weeks in April just lost another baby girl this week at 20 weeks. There was no warning and the baby appeared to be normal, though testing is being done. Please pray for this wonderful family!

Cinderella had an appendectomy - she's fine.

AG and Carnation - prayers for all. Tragic situations - Carnation, I don't know how that poor couple is holding up.

G is getting a second opinion at the University of Michigan and will likely go there for treatment. G's mom was not pleased with the "we're not sure what to do" feeling she got at the first hospital.

I posted in another thread about the t-shirts that G's friends are having made. They ended up selling over 400 shirts, raising $2000 for G and her family. That is 1/3 of the school who will be wearing those shirts all on one day Some who bought shirts aren't students at the high school but most are. Incredible. Someone let them know where she can get a free wig so they are using the money to get G a Nook, a gift card for that, Itunes gift cards and other things that she will be able to do during chemo, when she's not feeling well, etc. They are also going to get the family some gas gift cards because U of M is a good 45 miles from here and they'll be making that drive a lot. It's really heart warming to see how much support this family is getting from these teenagers.

May there be peace and healing for all of the patients & families mentioned. I haven't read this in a while, and I'm in awe of the students behind G.

And I also feel a little silly asking for prayer for my soon2b MIL. She slipped on the stairs yesterday and broke her tibia just below the kneecap. It sounds so minor compared to what I've just read, but next week is the shower, and the wedding is in less than 2 months. She has been SO excited, and I can't bear to think of her in pain and hobbled. They're talking about surgery for her. Thank you.

When I was born, my parents and I (I'm the oldest) lived in a two-flat on the north side of Chicago. Our upstairs neighbor was my dad's sister, her husband, and their two daughters. One daughter is my age and the other is two years older. My mom went back to work very soon after I was born, and my aunt, who didn't work, would take care of me and her two daughters during the day. Obviously, this made my cousins and I as close as can be. They were truly like my sisters and we were inseparable. My brother was born shortly before my 5th birthday and it was time for them to move to a bigger home, so we all moved out of that two-flat. We moved about 5 miles apart from each other so we still saw each other all the time. During the summers when I was in grade school and my mom was working, our grandmother would come over to babysit my brother and I and my cousins would come along to play. We always had such an awesome time together, starting our own band and making up dances to every single song on the Spice Girls CDs. So many great memories. Flash forward to the present, we are all still close but only see each other a few times a year due to our busy lives.

Today, I found out that the older sister may have some very scary medical issues. She has been dealing with some minor issues for the past few years, but with the latest flare-up, and how rapidly its become a problem, they are thinking it might be cancer. Latest news I have heard is that they have pushed up a surgery that was supposed to take place in late November up to next Tuesday so they can figure out what's going on.

I am so worried for my cousin. She is so important to me, as she has always been like my sister (and is our Panhellenic sister--she is an AST )

Obviously all I can do right now is pray hard and have faith for the best outcome. I would sincerely appreciate any prayers or good thoughts for her, the surgery and for a positive outcome.

You know what sucks? Being on birth control for 12 years in an effort to be responsible, only to find out at 30 your body doesnt operate as it's supposed to. Oh yeah, and my insurance doesnt cover infertility treatments. I havent yet been diagnosed as infertile, but I'm not ovulating, and it's been 8 months since I went off BC. I'm researching some natual methods to try to get my body to cooperate.....soy isofavones and progesterone cream is one idea...if I cant get those to work, then I'm going to have to look into other medical options, like Clomid

If I hear about one more teenage oops on FB....

You're where I was about 15 years ago. Best of luck to you and hang in there - I know it's tough when everyone around you seems to be preggers and you're not.
