You all knew she was incorrect before you began researching her. This thread was started on the premise that her claims about GC and AI are incorrect. The thread began as a re-discussion of AI and turned into a discussion of her. Whether she is a perp or not, and the other things people are commenting on regarding her, does not make her claims any more or less correct.

The biggest lesson to be reminded of is that neither this woman nor Greekchat are authorities on Greek Life. Neither should be the primary research tool for a prospective or a member. Nothing said by that woman nor Greekchat should be believed without verification. That is why GLOs and councils/conferences exist above and beyond Greekchat and any other unofficial Internet source.

So-called cyberstalking isn't a problem until someone uses the information to impact someone's personal life. Whatever people put online is there to be found. In any case, this person put her blog into the youtube post and encouraged people to check it out. Any attention she gets is on her.

Sure, this isn't like other times where GCers researched someone based on their GC username. Sure, she put the information out there.

Any attention she gets is on her and the people who are giving her attention. The attention givers are not robots who are forced to do whatever they do.

You know it is pretty easy to stand up for a PNM who has a bad outcome bc people dissect her on GC and some random person IRL takes it too far. It's a lot more difficult to step back and realize that the same actions can occur when the person your dissecting is saying things you might not like. OMG...she said something stupid about AI. You're doing more to advertise her viewpoint than she is.

True. Honestly, I think that even HAVING the AI forum here on GC gives the impression that it's something that happens all the time (just like going through collegiate recruitment.)

Well, the main reason it was created was because the AI posts were completely taking over the alumni forum and actual issues for CURRENT alumni were not being discussed. IMO the alumni forum still hasn't fully recovered.

It's not true in the case of AST, at least. What kills me is that she makes it a point to say, "It's different for every organization," but then goes on to say how you can go about joining, and mentions some specifics that wouldn't apply for all NPCs.

The alumna initiate must be sponsored by an alumna chapter and all apps go through our Exec Council to be approved/denied. The alumnae chapter must have known you for a set amount of time, too.

Also look at the SHEER numbers of AIs we have. We list them in our Triangle issues. We publish twice a year. Do you know how many AI were in both issues combined? Like 10. They ALL were women who have something to offer Tri Sigma. They're not just after her letters.

We share the info more openly than others, but I would never want someone to mistake "readily available info" for an easy backdoor way into Tri Sigma.

This sounds pretty similar to AST's views and procedures regarding AI. Of course there are variations across all orgs, but the one thing that seems consistent is: It's not easy to join, and you need to have something to offer the organization.
