Congrats to your daughter!

It was a wonderful and murderously hot day! The Greek Theater was practically vibrating with the excitement and enthusiasm! I will try to find a good pic of it and link here for all to see.

Several of us agreed that this method of gathering as one Greek body to celebrate Bid Day before going our separate ways, is really special and celebrates the Panhellenic experience. What a great tradition - but HOT! Would someone remind me to wear a hat next time??

Congrats to all of the NPC groups at UA - now...on to EXPANSION!!

Also, - I do need to correct Elephant Walk's post earlier. The struggling group he speaks of is definitely NOT new. They have been on campus for over thirty years.

Probably - but I can only be sure of the last 30 or so and didn't want to give wrong info.

MomofPNM11...so glad your daughter is a KD. My daughter is one of those sophomores guiding the small groups. She is so thrilled with all of their new members. My daughter LOVES her sorority and the University of Arkansas. She can't imagine being anywhere else. Congrats to your daughter!

MomofPNM11, Congrats to your daughter on being a new Kappa Delta!!!

She will love her new member period and she will love being a KD. (and for yourself, check out the beautiful KD Mom pin or charm on HJGreek--it's a bouquet of long stemed roses with Kappa Delta Mom in script. You have earned it!)

So proud to have your classy daughter as a sister.

This is a little bit of a lane swerve, but one of the reasons that I think Tennessee went to the trouble of building SO many houses at once in their new village was to put all the groups on even footing. Having a comparable house that is not as well located can work out just fine unless all the best houses are close to classes and yours is out in the boonies.

I can think of a couple of instances where chapters got split on their housing. One was a long time ago when everyone was in comparable suites in dorms and the university built new dorms. The oldest sororities were moved to the new dorms first. Some of the sororities were not moved. This led to a mismatch and a downward spiral that ended up closing 3 or 4 chapters (the ones not moved).

In another instance, a campus with a lodge system starting seeing huge quotas so they brought on new sororities, the old sororities had lodges, and the new ones met in a meeting room. So three in the meeting rooms, 8 in the lodges. I don't have the whole timeline down, but one of the chapters in the meeting rooms didn't make it very long, then two of the chapters in the lodges folded. Then one of the chapters in the meeting rooms moved to a lodge, and the other in the meeting room folded. Then the university had an empty lodge so they brought in another new chapter to rent the empty lodge. The two chapters renting lodges would fold 2 or 3 years later. So 5 chapters went down in 6 or 7 years, quota was still 50 or 60 (based on how many girls went to pref night). The newer chapters just couldn't make it.

ETA: PM me if you can figure out what school number two was - you deserve a lollypop.

UCF has been dealing with an uneven housing field for a while now, with some chapters having large houses and others without facilities. Maybe one of the UCF alumni can tell us what UCF is doing right to make this work.

I said the third newest...

And thats why I said it shouldn't scare new prospective chapters. And I would like to say their founding date is like late 1950s, but it's still the third newest.

MomofPNM11 - Thought I would let you know that my daughter is also a Kappa Delta! We were probably at the house at the same time on Bid Day! Congrats to your daughter!
