It's the medium, not the message she needs to change.
/yes that's right I just verbed that

I also think if people want to not have a footprint that can be tracked, they should use vastly different user names that are nothing like their real name or nicknames. For example if I was going to write Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle slash or fan fic, I would not use the same name as on GC, but something else entirely. It isn't that hard to keep stuff off of facebook as well as protect tweets. Though I am an infrequent user of twitter, the moment I saw unprotected tweets were going to be documented by the Library of Congress it was no question of protection.
Not that it has happened recently, but I know obnoxious new posters and/or troll like people have been busted/outed on GC for using the same or similar user name. I am not cut from the cloth of putting everything on facebook or twitter or what have you, private or not, so it can be quite hard for me to understand.

I am mostly "drolefille" on the internet and would use it for pretty much anything that isn't 'adult' material. Fanfic would be drolefille (it isn't, I can't write), slash fic would be something else (it isn't, I can't write.)

The most distressing thing about this thread, IMO, is the possibility that a Pi Chi would say sororities are superficial and that's why you were cut. If anything, that just gives PNMs license to write off the whole Greek system as snotty bitches.
The only place I use the same username online is on a makeup board and a TV snark board. Never that twain shall meet so it's really not a problem. If you see "33girl" anywhere else online, it's not me (unless Prunetacos is quoting me).
One of the posters from the snark board also posted here and
it wasn't just her username...
it was also
the fact that her distinctive style
was the same in both places.

I think that the three of us are all a bit older and had different internet (facebook for sure) experiences and have a different approach to living online.
But OH MY do a search in google on tumblr sorority and there are people putting it all out there. Blog posts on what chapters they want to join, what they are wearing to pref, who actives want to see on bid day, unreal!

"Living online" pretty much sums it up.
These girls wouldn't think of going home, getting out their paper journal and venting in it. They automatically put it on the computer.
The impression of that age group that everyone wants to hear what they have to say just because they say it is just part of the entitlement thing.
