As a side note she had 13 recs and she only made it back to 3 for philanthropy. So recs do not guarantee you past the first cut. (and most of those had 2 recs submitted)

Recs are never a "guarantee" of anything. At a competitive school like Auburn, almost every pnm has them so all they do is put you on the same footing as those other pnms in that respect. With many chapters you will get cut
without a rec, so when you have one you are able to at least eliminate the possibility of being cut simply because you don't have one.
