Gatlinburg Formal Advice.

I'm the Social/Formal Chairman of a recently chartered Fraternity. We've had a couple of off-campus formals and this spring were interested in doing an overnight in Gatlinburg. It's fallen to me to draw up possible plans. We're probably going to have about 80 people going and I've been having difficulty selecting a cabin/chalet rental company out of the myriad available. The tricky part has been finding cabins for large groups. I'd rather not have the different groups scattered all over the woods. Does anyone have any suggestions as to a reputable company where i could rent a cluster of chalets within walking distance of each other?

I think that you are going to find that the property management groups do not rent to students/large groups/groups with a large under 21 component. I forget their exact wording, but it is clear that the intent is to limit the college-aged crowd. In addition, parties are also forbidden.

Sorry. Maybe you could try a hotel instead? I know it is not the same experience at all, but I am pretty certain that what you are hoping for just isn't going to happen.

go to www.tripadvisor.com and ask this on the Gatlinburg forum.

And I am with Blondie. We vacation in Gatlinburg quite a bit. Cabin rental companies have very specific rules, and a huge house party isn't one of them. Also keep in mind with the giant houses, there is a minimum rental period, often 2-3 days, depending on the time of year. Also.... I have never seen a house that would hold 80 people. 40 or 50, yes, but not 80.

Call one of the many hotels and motels in Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge and Seiverville, see if they will cater to your group with a block of rooms. Where will you be holding your formal event? You can also ask them about a hotel recommendation.
