As a mom who supported her daughter through recruitment a few years ago, I'd like to toss out some words of wisdom.
-You will end up where you're supposed to be. You really will.
-Getting cut is not the end.
My daughter is at a mid-size state school. She started rush alone (her friends bailed on her). Went to all first round parties. Got cut heavily for round two. So she spent time crying on the phone. Went to all round two parties. Found a house she "LOVED". Ranked her houses. Pref round: got A FULL PARTY list! Even though she got heavily cut round 1 she was the only girl in her pnm group to get a full party for perf. The three houses she was invited to: AAA, BBB, CCC she liked AAA, BBB but didn't want CCC at all. She ranked them: BBB, AAA and CCC.
Bid day: She's a BBB! she is thrilled and happy. Loves her house. She did say several girls in her group "tossed out their bids" because they only wanted one specific house.
So now my younger daughter will be going through recruitment this fall at a big school. Much different from my BBB (Phi Mu) daughter. No legacy chapter either.
Younger daughter story to come!
