^ Strawberries! How Zeta-y! :-)

I can't WAIT to post pics of my wedding cake. My sister's making it, and it's going to be awesome. I already saw some of the flowers and they're amazing!

Beautiful cakes!

I need to stop coming to this thread. It makes me crave cakes. Lots and lots of cakes.

DF has agreed to a cookie table, though! YEAH!!!! I'll have to make a little pass around, describing what they're all about but it'll be worth it.
I didn't get to taste my cake since I lived 6 hours away from where I got married. But my mom went and tasted the cake. Since I had a basic flavor of buttercreme and almond it wasn't anything tricky. Bananas might be a bit much for a wedding cake! Could you give your future MIL a list of flavors you are interested in so that would keep her on track? A cookie table sounds awesome!

Not only did I taste cake flavors before we decided, I made sure my husband did too. He is not a big cake person (ice cream is another story), but it was important that I got something he liked also. Is there any way you can arrange a cake tasting while you are in town doing wedding errands? I agree, bananas do not sound like a yummy cake flavor to me either.

We don't have cookie tables here in Virginia. However, because of our love of ice cream, we had Coldstone come in and serve ice cream! It was a hit with our guests! And it hit the spot since it was unseasonably warm on our wedding date.

Okay, now I must scour the internet for a recipe for banana cake, because that sounds like the most awesome thing EVER and my freezer is filled to overflowing with bananas ...

My sister said she'd do a tasting for us, but she's two hours away and we just never got coordinated. Luckily, I know what her cakes taste like. :-)

honey, we're doing a cookie table too! And using cookies as favors. :-)

I seriously considered this, but it would be like saying, "I've hated every cake you've ever served," and while I don't like her taste in cakes, she IS a lovely woman. I think I'm going to use ZTABullwinkle's idea and try them out when I'm in town. DF & I discussed cakes this week, and he's pretty much, "why not a yellow cake with chocolate icing?" I explanied to him that's what a groom's cake is for (he's totally against a groom's cake, for some reason). LOL at DSTRen13!!

We had our groom's cake at the rehearsal dinner. You can always surprise him with one. I did for my now-husband.

I like the way you think! I had thought of surprising him, even if it was a simple sheetcake with his nickname on it. Then I thought of the Open House. One WILL be sprung on him!

I just thought: I should tell him to get in line with the Groom's Cake or there will be a Terrible Towel cake representing him!

It isn't a wedding without a cookie table . My cousin got married this weekend in Pittsburgh, and when I called my mom to ask how the wedding was, her first response was, "OH you should have SEEN the cookies!"
