Your Greek Life Office can't tell you NOT to rush, but they can't tell the sororities to BID you with said GPA.

Edit: and "if you know for a fact that your friend's chapter is going to give you a bid", why are you asking for advice?
the office can tell me not to rush? thats what i thought...

and if i had a 2.5 i could rush? i just need 9 credits this summer.

update: i contacted the lady in charge or the summer college and asked her about the credit limit and everything. this is what she said:

"You will need to get approval from your department chairperson/advisor to take over 7 credits in a six week session. Thanks"

so next stop=my advisor. do you guys think hell let me?

Honestly, it will depend on whether he thinks you can handle it.

Anyone I've ever known to get approved for an overload on credits has been an excellent student all through college, so the advisor had no qualms about letting them go over the max number of hours (I'm talking above a 3.6.)

If you're just now getting back on your feet academically, he may be hesitant to approve your overload for fear that you'll be overwhelmed and do REALLY BADLY.

The worst thing would be for you to get approved to take this higher number of courses, do poorly and put yourself in a worse position than you're already in.

I wouldn't if I were him. You don't have a good enough GPA to get into your major. Rationality dictates that you would take a step back and try harder while having less on your plate, not a lot more. But none of this is rational, so what the hell do I know?

Were I the adviser, I would not as I would be concerned you just couldn't handle the load as evidenced by your previous performance. You would just be further down this bad road.

However, WE ARE NOT HIM/HER! We can't tell you what HE/SHE would do...only what we would do. And if I were the adviser for a chapter on your campus, you would be released the first day with this GPA. That may be mean but maintaining our standards and not having to deal with you for 3 lackluster semesters in a row before we could expel you is just not how I'd want to spent my time and energy.
