The child interestingly enough. When I first read it I said "Zu-Leem-a" and she cringed so I asked her to sound it out for me and the "lame" pronunciation is what she gave me. I met the mom at the end of the week who was from Spain, but she only ever called her "Zuzu". Perhaps there is an 11 year old somewhere laughing at how silly she made me look for a week...

"Flenzy....were all charged with two counts of aggravated assault, and one count each of riot, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, police said."

I knew I didn't like the name.

I know a girl named Fallon, pronounced the same but obviously spelled differently.

My wife had a little girl named Klashang.
We will not use the name Lily because our neighbor across the street has a dog named Lily.

Bumping because I was reading this thread and wondering how some of these kids will ever make it through life... I can only imagine an HR person getting a resume with the name "Shithead" or "Araya Sunshine" at the top.

On another note, although I am not a teacher, I am at the age where all of my friends seem to be popping kids out within days of each other. There are 9 (yes, 9) Eva/Ava's, 3 Sophies, and 4 versions of Mackayla just in my group of acquaintences that have been born over the past year or so. Also, my goddaughter was named "Bella" about 4 years ago, before her parents had even heard of Twilight. I'm sure there are millions of those now, too.

The nicknames are killing my husband; he won't use them anymore. He probably hopes that he'll never teach another CoCo, RieRie, or Sputt.

Out of all the girls we know under the age of 8, there are 8 Olivia's, 4 Ava/Ayva/Eva's, 7 Maddie's (Madison or Madelyn), 5 Abby's, 2 Addy's (Adrienne and Addison), 4 Alexis's, 2 Hannah's, 3 Kayla/Kayleigh, and I know there's more. So all of those are out if we ever had another girl.

Boys names are all pretty standard, doesn't seem like any boys name dominates over the other (as far as kids we know). My son's name is pretty unusual, but old school traditional.

Oh, yeah, I forgot about the Olivias. There are a few born within the past few months that I know about.

You went to school with more than one Giovanni????? Were they all part of the Sortino family? I don't think we had a single Italian (or at least hard-core Italian) in my school... but I could totally see the families sending their children to your school. (A compliment!)

Yep, 2 Sortino's (same names, different middle initial, both first cousins), and a Gallaro, also a first cousin to the Sortinos.

(8 Olivia's, not 3, I don't know why I duplicated that. Now I'm wracking my brain trying to think of what that name was supposed to be...)

It seems like 80% of the little girls at work are named:

Emma
Isabella
Madison (with other variations such as Maddisyn, Maddyson, and Maddisen.)
Kylie/Kaylie (with many other variations on the spelling e.g. Kaylee/Kylee)
Madelyn/Madeline. (with lots of crazy variations there too e.g. Madelynne)

Seriously, if you don't know a girl's name, just start yelling out these names. One of them is it.
