How do other chapters view them? As a valuable study resource.

There are no repercussions if the professor allows students to keep their exams. Old exams given out by professors are intended to serve as study aids.

If a professor allows students to take the test home, he is allowing them to do with it as they please. A professor can't logically give students an old exam and have the expectation they won't share it or allow someone else to see it. If he wants to keep the questions under wraps, he won't release it to the students after the exam: If he doesn't want an exam circulated, he simply won't permit the students to take it with them.

Professors tend to rewrite exams, and students often learn best by taking old tests to get familiar with the types of questions that will be asked and become more adept test takers. Students who have access to a test bank can look through them before they register for a course to make sure this is a class they are interested in taking and can handle. Everyone benefits.

As for not having a house, you could collect exams on a semesterly basis, scan them and provide them to members on a website. You could give it a password, if you want to make it secure, but I think it is best to keep it open. Another option would be to keep them in hard copy file in whatever cubicle or office on campus is given to you by the Office of Student Affairs. Talk to the other academic chairs in your Greek System: maybe you can start a website together and have a larger test bank open to all students.
