There was always a rivalry between us and the Ques. It wasn't just a friendly joking rivalry, it was a deep seeded hatred. There was even a riot at CSU back in 86' that started between the Nupes and the Ques (I'm not sure of all the details). I'm not sure if that's everywhere between the Nupes and Ques, because even visiting Ques didn't like us. We didn't have a rivalry with the other fraternities at our school. But, the Sigmas from Wilberforce didn't like us for whatever reason. Maybe they had something against Delta chapter Nupes.
It got to the point where I stopped going to parties because of the Kappa and Que rivalry, though. Personally, I was one of those who pretty much got along with all the greeks on our campus. There were a few individual people within some of those organizations that I didn't care for, but never an entire organization. I was always okay with teasing and joking. However, I always felt that any time someone took it to another level beyond that, by hating an entire organization (on a serious level), then that, to me is kind of ignorant. It was too much ignorance and stupidity that would cause a lot of fights between us and the Ques back then. I'm not sure how it is now.

I can't speak for nationwide, but it seems to be much better than back in the day.
I remember those years growing up and part of my own greek life. It was almost Bloods and Crip-ish in nature. Don't know if some higher ups came in and knocked some heads or what, but these days its rare to see a Que/Kappa altercation.

Yeah the NPHC rivalries that I saw on yards in various states were more like thug life on the part of the fraternities and sororities. Some of the rivalries were deep seated and others were about things like Alphas wearing gold boots. Most of them were not about who has the highest GPA or does the most community service. But, many of them were about who runs the yard and has the most aspirants. They just expressed these rivalries in different ways. I know why they expressed their rivalries in that manner but......
I was going to type more but I will end my rant there. It is a thread in and of itself.

You've just described the LGLO/MCGLO Greek Life experience in the northeast.
