Asians in the Library...

A UCLA friend (I have one! ) said that during finals week there were students on purpose being loud and obnoxious in the library as backlash to all this. Her personal info was found on the UCLA directory and sent all over the internet, she was being sent death threats, etc. and that's why she left UCLA.

I don't wish that kind of terrible social situation on anyone, but she did bring it upon herself. I doubt she apologized because she suddenly sees Asian students as equals or deserving to go to UCLA, she apologized because she was getting so much heat.

This has brought up some discussion on the other side of LA. I don't feel like there's a lot of racial tension at USC quite as much but maybe because I'm white I don't see it. I hope that things are quieting over at UCLA now too.

Backlash to what? Backlash to a girl who DOESN'T EVEN ATTEND UCLA ANYMORE? What she said was ignorant but two dumbs don't make a smart.

I was wondering the same thing, when I heard the story and that it was UCLA. Hey, this is GC -- we're a little fraternity/sorority obsessed!

Oh, I'm just as sure there WON'T be any mention of it. I saw the pink and blue and thought the same thing. Plus, she IS blonde.

In an attempt to produce a humorous YouTube video, I have offended the UCLA community and the entire Asian culture. I am truly sorry for the hurtful words I said and the pain it caused to anyone who watched the video. Especially in the wake of the ongoing disaster in Japan, I would do anything to take back my insensitive words. I could write apology letters all day and night, but I know they wouldn’t erase the video from your memory, nor would they act to reverse my inappropriate action.
I made a mistake. My mistake, however, has lead to the harassment of my family, the publishing of my personal information, death threats, and being ostracized from an entire community. Accordingly, for personal safety reasons, I have chosen to no longer attend classes at UCLA.

People shouldn't be threatening her life and releasing her personal information. That's dumb.

But, she's definitely playing the unknowing victim here. Her dumbass knew that she was making an offensive (or potentially offensive) videotape. She didn't release that for comedic value. She released that because she thought she was the voice of the oppressed white folks who are tired of those "model minority" Asians taking over the world.

There's nothing accidental about creating a web video. I do not believe that she is sorry.
