People must not understand the concept of my sorority's fundraising. I was just looking for ideas for us to add to our bank account, so that we can save up to do more community projects and in the distant future, have a house. We are content with having such low dues, because all of the nationals at my school have dues of well over $4,000. Not everyone is a "rich" girl.

We do not want to expand so rapidly that we accept people into our sorority that will harm all of the work we have put into it. This has happened in the past, which is why we are also in a rebuilding phase.

Gifts do not cost a lot of money, since we make them ourselves. This is money that comes out of our own pockets. The point of fundraising is for it to come out of someone else's pocket and into our bank account.

Sorry, but there'e something about this that rubs me a little bit the wrong way. If your fundraising is to fund a scholarship or do some form of community service (which is one purpose you mention), that's one thing. But I have a bit of a problem with basically asking other people to fund your sorority or help you save up for a house (which will cost lots more than $150 per member to maintain). If it's something that matters to your group, then that's an obligation that should come with membership.

And by the way, lots of people who aren't "rich girls" or "rich boys" find a way to pay their higher dues.

What I meant was that fundraising wouldn't exist if people didn't need an extra way to make money right? WHY ARE OTHER PEOPLE FUNDRAISING? I wasn't trying to say that we use fundraising money for our future house. Our dues actually go into that somewhat.
Really?

So please don't accuse others of taking things the wrong way when people are just responding to what you plainly said.

We use fundraising money to buy supplies to help people and do other activities that benefit our community. We don't just go around banking people's money. In the past, we have fundraised to buy material to make a quilt for our local woman's shelter. We've raised over $700 for Relay For Life in one semester!
That's great. Really! I'd have no problem with that at all. But again, your earlier posts pretty clearly suggest other goals of fundraising as well, and it was those other goals that I said I'd have a problem with.
