*Kids misbehaving anywhere and their parents ignoring them. I cringe when I see a kid knocking over a display in Target & the parents ignoring it. <--OMMMMGGG YES

*LOUD NOISES when I don't expect them. Ex: I know that concerts are loud. Cool. But I don't expect kids to blow airhorns in WalMart (true story.) I nearly jumped out of my skin.

It's something about people who "smack" when they eat cereal. That bothers me. I know this may sound strange y'all, but I can't stand to see a grown ass man eating a kid's cereal. Fruity Pebbles, Coco Puffs, cereal that makes the milk change colors drastically etc. I have other pet peeves, but this one stands out from the rest.

I have to admit, I'm with your manager unless it's worded well. Signs like that usually come off as a bit snippy or rude, to me.

I read Ann Landers. The advice column is 1943-2002 so no one in this thread is too young to remember or have read it.

I find the history of both Landers and Abby to be quite intriguing.

As for toilet paper, LOL @ this being such a hot topic for Ann Landers' column that discussions all of the Internet still cite Ann Landers. Oh and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toilet_paper_orientation

Totally. I don't drive often, but I'm totally fine in DC proper. Put me in Virginia and I'm a total wreck (though I blame Virginia's aversion to ANY KIND OF SIGNAGE).

My main pet peeve is people being inattentive to their surroundings. I have to run about a half mile through my neighborhood to get to my running paths and people weaving around the sidewalk staring at their phone, walking four abreast, etc. piss me off. Share, dammit!

OMG. You are so not kidding. In Wisconsin, there are road signs like every two feet. I'm perpetually afraid of getting a speeding ticket because it will be miles before I see a sign.

I'm loving the 70 mph speed limit on the highways though.

I still have nightmares about paying toll after toll to do u-turn after u-turn trying to get to Dulles

ETA: same can be said about trying to get to/go anywhere from UCF T_T every time I go to Orlando I check my mail for a week half expecting a ticket for some toll booth violation lol

They tend to be pretty passive aggressive. There's one local place here that has signs simply saying "No cell phones when picking up or placing orders." It's straightforward, and neither passive aggressive nor snippy. It's right next to their "No Debit or Credit cards accepted" sign.

Funny story about lack of signage. My co-worker met a friend at lunch in Mexicantown in Detroit. We can generally get there, eat and get back to work in plenty of time. However, they've rebuilt the freeway ramps around there and the signs aren't all back up. He thought he was going the right way to get back to the freeway but he was actually on the road that goes to the bridge to Canada. He got to the duty free shop and there was NO WAY to just turn around and not get on the bridge. He didn't have enough money for the tolls to go both ways and didn't have his passport or birth certificate with him so he could NOT go to Canada and come back. He talked to the lady at Duty Free and she referred him the customs guy. He had to wait in line with all the cars waiting to go over the bridge to Canada. When he got up there, the guy directed him to a certain spot, behind a gate and told him that the lady who can open the gate had just gone to lunch and it would be an hour until she back! He had to sit there, in his car, at the gate, until she got back. He got back to work at 3. He had left around 12:30. He had called my boss to tell him what happened so my boss wrote on the white board outside his cube "Being held at Guantanamo"

I've lived in DC for 5 years and I still haven't figured out how to get on the GW Parkway going south BECAUSE THERE ARE NO FREAKING SIGNS. I always end up at the Pentagon somehow. Once I get turned around, I can get on the parkway from the other direction, so it's just become an expected part of the journey. Ha!

When I studied abroad in Spain, the shower water would only stay warm for ~1 minute. It was the most annoying thing in the world! I learned to lather up with the water off, and only use the shower to rinse off. I get pissed if I'm standing with my hand under a faucet waiting for it to warm up and it takes forever or just never heats up.

Another pet peeve of mine is when people are unreasonably nosy! I am a very private person and I don't answer to just anyone.
