Generally speaking, staying with impersonal questions shouldn't create too much tension. Think about what you would feel comfortable asking a stranger. What's their favorite color/animal/book? Just avoid asking questions that might create a "situation". Nothing about religion, politics, boys, life goals, family...basically, nothing serious. Keep it light.
