I proposed while we were on a hike at one of my wife's favorite national parks. But I was careful to do it when no one else was visible on the trail. (I think she was wondering why I kept looking back so much.)

My niece's now-husband proposed at the top of the Eiffel Tower.

Best view in the city - because you can't SEE the gosh-darn ugly thing when you're standing in it.

My cousin's now-husband was playing soccer in Uruguay (Paraguay?) and they hadn't seen each other in a long time. He came home without telling her and fixed it with my Aunt to come over that night. So my cousin got home from work and my Aunt was in the kitchen so she yelled "Quick, come in here I'm going to drop this!" So my cousin in typical fashion comes strolling in and there he was down on one knee. She was more happy to see him than to be engaged. My Aunt video taped the whole thing. It was sooo cute.
