Clowns Angered Over Misuse of Word 'Circus' When it Comes to Politics
http://blog.trutv.com/dumb_as_a_blog...-politics.html
AOL Weird News reported that many clowns in America are fed up with the careless way we refer to messy situations--like U.S. politics--as a "circus."
Specifically, they feel that calling a politician a clown is offensive to them.
Clowns strive to work hard, make people happy and ultimately do no harm so the comparison is unfavorable and unfair in their eyes.
Kinko the Clown of New York City says, "If you look at the history of the American circus, you'll find that it's one of the most efficient and well-run industries in America."
Touche', Kinko, touche'.

How would the estate recoup these except via litigation? The child did it, so in a literal sense, you have to sue the kid (even though the parents/insurance will pay it).

^^Thumbs up. Gov't shouldn't pay Madame Cleo's salary. The same goes for the cruise ships and tattoo parlors.

But if that really was the issue, why did her estate wait until after her death to sue for her expenses? Plus, it's not like her death was related to the accident in the first place.
They sound like money hungry people with a frivolous lawsuit and are using this accident as an excuse to sue.

The process of suing doesn't happen overnight - the attorney will likely have to do a considerable amount of work beforehand. There's a statute of limitations for a reason, and there are a million valid reasons for not running to the courthouse the minute after something happens - in fact, it's SMARTER to wait, because it's important to take the time to make sure all the ducks are in a row.
More cases are lost before filing (to procedural issues, etc.) than after.

And they're not suing for her death or loss of consortium or anything - just for her injuries/medical bills. You're overreacting.

And you sound like the kind of juror the kid's parents' attorneys will want on the panel: reactionary, biased against lawsuits, relying on personal assumption rather than legal reasoning/experience, and predisposed to "McDonald's Hot Coffee" BS/rhetoric rather than common sense.
It's all good.
Also since when is getting hurt and suing for medical bills "frivolous"? You wouldn't sue if you got tripped up by kids on bikes and broke your leg? You're a saint. And other things, but also a saint.

If it was me who was either knocked down or now handling the estate of someone who was knocked down and had these bills, alive or dead, I would have gone after the parent for being negligent and letting their kid create the situation that led to injury. I can't count the amount of times I've seen small children move quickly and make possible a situation where they get hurt or hurt someone else. I'm still pretty spry and have reflexes to move out of the way but an 87 year old may not have the vision or mobility to do the same.
There's a reason the kid is getting sued instead of the parent, but either way the parent will end up paying unless this kid has some amazing assets in trust. I'm not up on insurance and the law, but I wonder if this is going forward because there isn't an umbrella policy or one for personal liability, or the insurance company wouldn't pay on it.

Man says he was forced to eat beard in mower spat
Quote:
AP) 2 days ago
LAWRENCEBURG, Ky. (AP) A central Kentucky man says he was forced to eat his beard after an argument about a lawn mower got out of control. Harvey Westmoreland of Lawrenceburg told WLEX-TV that two men cut off his beard, stuffed it into his mouth and forced him to eat it.
Westmoreland said two former friends got angry as they tried to negotiate a price for a lawn mower they wanted to buy from Westmoreland. He said "one thing led to another, and before I knew it, there were knives and guns and everything just went haywire."
The two men pleaded guilty to charges related to the incident and will be sentenced next week.

Cinci City Council to vote on "Meatless Mondays"
http://www.wlwt.com/health/25749910/detail.html
WTF? Since when do vegans get to tell people what's good for them to eat, and what restaurants can have on their menu's? If this passes (and I don't think it will), the backlash will be insane. Restaurants will just close on Mondays. I can't wait to get out of this region.
