I don't get "scared" from movies and have nightmares for weeks, but The Strangers was one of the creepiest/most suspenseful movies I've watched. In a lot of scary movies, you can pretty much guess when people are going to jump out or when someone is going to be killed, but in this one, you couldn't. My heart was racing the whole time.

This comes up every year, and I say the same thing: The original version of Last House of the Left. I honestly cannot begin to imagine a worse movie, an d I've been told that the new version is nothing in comparison.
Like Jen, I can handle true crime in all forms, but just can't handle horror movies.

I'm with KSUViolet06 - can't handle scary movies. I was terrified by the original Night of the Living Dead (isn't it in black and white?). I still can't watch it. What was the movie with the blind woman... the one where... nevermind. Just can't do scary. *shudders*

The Ring scared the shit out of me. So did Blair Witch, but that's just because I hike in the woods a lot.

Jaws. I won't swim in salt water to this very day.
Wrong Turn scared me too.

As for adult horrors, Dawn of the Dead was lame in plot but kept me awake a few nights.
I wasn't afraid of Scream, but the way the killer moves with the crazy slashing movements still creeps me out. I HATE it when people dress like him/her for Halloween. No one did this year, thank God.

I thought Paranormal Activity 2 was much scarier (and better) than the first one! Probably one of the scariest movies I've seen in years and I watch horror movies all the time. The whole demon thing just realllly gets to me. I like psychological horror movies, not gory ones.
I thought The Strangers was pretty good, I just hate the ending. And I've been wanting to see Last House on the Left for a while!
..and AnchorAlum, I watched that show last night. It was okay, I'll probably watch it again when it comes on.

I thought the first one was scarier. I was thinking that I would've thought the second was scarier if I didn't see the first one. I slept over a friend's house the night I saw the first one. We saw it together and she asked me to stay over because she was afraid too. We slept with the lights on. lol

I've told this before -- I love scary movies, but only one movie has truly scared (or disturbed?) me to the core: Blue Velvet. I was away for work and watched it in the hotel room. Could not get to sleep for hours and hours afterward. A few days later I was back home and walking into Wal-Mart. As I walked in, the music system started playing Bobby Vinton's "Blue Velvet." I turned around and walked out.
I've tried to figure out why it scared me so badly. I love David Lynch's stuff. Maybe it was the being in a hotel room part. Maybe it was the fact that in real life, I was familiar with where it was filmed, so it seemed more "real." Maybe it was just crazy Dennis Hopper. But whatever it was, I still get a little creeped out when I hear "Blue Velvet."
