2010 Election -- Political Ads

My favorite political ad so far is the Nevada one about illegal (Hispanic) immigrants joining gangs and terrorizing innocent white people. They aired it and discussed it on The View this morning. I will post it if I can find it.

It was the most awesomely ignorant thing in a minute.

There was another one that had actual (DIRTY SCARY LARGE MALE) Hispanic people crossing the border to cops doing nothing and people holding checks. She had the audacity to say that "well they're not necessarily Hispanic, you know we have to worry about Canada too" or something idiotic along those lines. It's been pulled I think, but I'll look for it after work.

Illinois' got a judicial recall fight (and we didn't even legalize gay marriage) from some pro-business PACs. The ad's pretty disgusting IIRC. Another one I'll look for after work.

“So that’s what we want is a secure and sovereign nation, and, you know, I don’t know that all of you are Latino. Some of you look a little more Asian to me. I don’t know that,” Angle said, according to video posted by the Nevada paper. “What we know, what we know about ourselves is that we are a melting pot in this country.”

Angle then claimed that she too has been confused as a different ethnicity, seemingly in an attempt to illustrate her melting pot point.

“I’ve been called the first Asian legislator in our Nevada State Assembly,” Angle said.

I can't find the ad I was thinking of, so maybe that one was someone else? But the one linked in thread gets the point anyway.

They claim he sided with child molestors and murderers. He's explained that these were all procedural cases. He's not a trial judge but an IL Supreme Court judge.

Not defending Angle in any way, but my husband has actually mistaken an Asian for a Hispanic before. They do have similar features in some cases.

I believe she was speaking to a college's Hispanic/Latin@ student association, though I could be wrong. So it was a particularly dumb statement.

But she's a freaking moron, so that's to be expected.
