Missing Trophies
I am really upset now ... someone broke into our house last night, and stole a bunch of our trophies ... total of six huge trophies, including overall homecoming, overall greek week etc ...
I don't think this is a prank, coz someone cannot rob half of our trophy case just like that.
Does anybody have experience with this? Last year, someone stole our Leini paddle, and we never get that back .. so everything will be bad deal (hope not).
Need some advise!

Queequek, sorry to hear about your trophies! Was anything else from the house stolen or just the trophies? If it was just the trophies, I was suspect it was a fraternity prank. I know a few of my sisters have a closet full of stolen Delt paddles and I think some of the AZD's once stole the composite that was over their fireplace! We get really sneaky when we're trying to prank other Greek, so maybe it was planned out.

Hey queequek, Beta Xi chapter of Sigma Sigma Sigma is in your boat, only much worse. I don't know about your campus, but on ours, every chapter has huge (well, not exactly HUGE-3 feet tall or so) plywood block letters to carry to events. Ours are always displayed along one wall of our chapter lounge. From time to time they get "borrowed." Nobody minds it, really, because it is pretty funny to walk to class bleary eyed and see your letters smiling down on you from the roof of a fraternity house. Fall 2000 semester, our letters were borrowed, and we haven't seen them since. We have politely requested information from all the chapters on campus (fraternity and sorority alike) about their disappearance, and to no avail. Our advisor has gone to IFC to ask about them. Our former chapter president is the current Panhellenic President, and she has asked about them there. We have heard many rumors, but still haven't seen them. A father in the chapter has gone ahead and made replacements for the upcoming year. I have mixed feelings about this: on one hand, we will be able to have our letters at Bid Day, but then again, whoever stole them will never be discovered.

This went on all the time at our campus too... we had some composites and paddles. We always gave them back, though. Our missing stuff would always somehow reappear too....
Sorry to hear that houses are being sketchy and not returning it! That ruins the fun!!!

About 12 years ago a large (and heavy!) brass crest of ours was stolen from our dining room. Just last year the university was digging in the formal gardens and came across it! It is kinda sad, but greeks do steal a lot from each other. The people who steal it get all excited thinking it's cool, but as soon as something of theirs is taken then they get all mad.

My chapter has had more than enough experiences like yours! It's sometimes funny, and we get the stuff back. However, some of the frat guys do this when they are drunk and break the stuff! We've had composites broken and most recently 3 Greek Life trophies stolen. The fraternity in question about the trophies has denied it a thousand times, so we guess the trophies are damaged and never coming back. Sorry about the break-in; I wish you the best!
