Ok, this is sad, but I keep wondering... (MC or any other language people...)
Is it really EYE-sis, or EE-sis? I've mostly heard EYE-sis, but when we sang it in The Magic Flute, the director had us say "EE-sis". Could just be the difference between singing and speaking vowels, though.
I'm fully prepared for one of you geeks to come in with an explanation along the lines of "If it's Greek between 200BC and 1500AD, it's this way, and if it's Egyptian between 100AD and 600AD it's this way, but really, it should actually be THIS way, unless you're Samoan, in which case you tattoo your face, rather than actually speak".
