Sorry, I just cannot stand to watch that show. It's kind of a train wreck but not a fun one. Maybe it's because I used to perform and I'm often paying attention to the actual dancing.

Most of the pairs fall into one of two categories:

- perfectly groomed male dancer with 5% body fat, who drags a woman with no personality and little talent in the "moves" department across the stage, while she wears a bedazzled outfit that leaves little to the imagination.

- proportionately curvy yet delicate female dancer who tries to follow the limp lead of a usually out-of-shape male partner who mostly just gyrates and thrusts his pelvis. Extra points if the judges patronize the male for his slick "moves".

Most of the "stars" in this show fall into the following categories (this goes for all of the international versions of the show as well): actors/singers who haven't had a hit show/film/song/album in more than a decade, reality show participants who are trying to stay relevant (they usually refer to being photographed by paparazzi as their "career"), retired athletes who are too young to hawk pharmaceuticals but too old to play the game anymore, people who are just familiar enough to appeal to the audience (former pageant winners, politicians, "tv personalities" or news reporters, business owners, even an astronaut and a former VP candidate's unwed teenage mother!). The funny thing is, most of the people don't see how much of a joke they have become on the show.

For these reasons, I hate the term "star".

(If you really enjoy the show, I don't mean offense to you personally!!)
