Recruitment SOOO different
I will share that I attended UGA many, many moons ago. I also pledged a sorority and have remained active upon my return to Georgia. My daughter pledged the same house. She went through last fall and I told her to keep a completely open mind. I suspect she looked at my sorority with a bit of a jaundice eye. HOWEVER, during recruitment, it just clicked and I am thrilled for her.
For those of you who have never participated in Greek life, I can not explain to you how joyous it is. You make life-long friendships. My little sister is my youngest son's godmother. One of my sorority sisters has a son my youngest son's age. They have been friends for years and they happily shared my son's wedding last fall.
Membership in Greek life on a campus like UGA gives you leadership opportunities, access to tutors and heads up on tests and difficult professors. It also gives you a safe place to learn problem solving, mentoring skills, and organization!
I would not trade my four years at UGA in a sorority for anything! I wish only the same for all of your daughters.
