Ooo! They're in Ice Water Teas now!

You know what I've thought for years but may not have posted? One reason it hurts to be cut is that because the sorority members are so very nice to everyone, due to Southern courtesy, and a PNM might mistake that for "They really like me!" And maybe they do like the PNM but they cut her for whatever reason and she's devastated, of course.

I'm not sure this is just a southern thing. Recruitment is when sorority members are, generally, very nice to all the PNMs. We've talked about it before here, I know.

I think this is true EVERYWHERE. Everyone is super nice to you the entire party, and the next day you're cut.

I'd imagine that would be hard.

I went through COR, and everyone was so unbelievably nice. Inviting me to a sporting event, lunch, etc.

If they had done all that, and then decided not to give me a bid, I would have been really upset.

At a large, competitive school, it's seldom a "cut." More that the consensus gave out of openings before they got to you. It's entirely posible that you were near the top of the list of whoever you talked to.

Just talked to active daughter. Good day, but she's already tired. 850 girls came through today, with another approximately 400 tomorrow. Good luck to all the PRMs.

My daughter is active as well and find this side much more stressful than when she went through rush. She wants all the girls going through to feel comfortable and have fun.

Just noticed that not only do the girls finish ice water teas at about 1 today but they finish philanthropy parties about that time in 2 days. Wow. I don't know what time their invitations will arrive but that sure gives them a lot of time to obsess and tent talk...all afternoon and evening. Who wouldn't obsess with hundreds of other rushing women around you? That's so much time to think, "Why did she get more invitations that I did?" "All those girls have designer ___ and I don't." "She already knows all these sorority members and I don't know any."

Auburn! I hope you've filled their downtime with lots of fun and constructive activities!

I think that l-o-n-g period after each of the first two rounds is spent by the sororities going over what they have learned.

On the bright side - they miss the heat of the day! I remember last year, the umbrellas were out in force for the shade - not the rain. MY daughter is on the other side this year and is so excited for the new pnms. She had a great time yesterday, and said she did not meet a single girl she would not like as a sister (this may be a problem in choosing....)

Lawgal, My daughter feels the same way. Very stressful narrowing a field when you like all the girls you met and remember the other side.

My friend is rushing at Auburn and she just called me to let me know how each house went. She definitely reiterated how hot it was. Sending good luck vibes to all of the Auburn PNMs on their first cuts tomorrow!

My daughter told me there were 82 Pi Chi groups with about 15 a group. So the number should be around 1230 -1240.
