Could I go through Membership Intake

I want to join kappa alpha psi. My current university you only need a 2.0 to go through intake. There were some akas at my school who didn't have a 2.5 and crossed. I figured the 2.5 was a soft minimum

So who do you think you should ask about this?

Yeah they came out an everything. I think they were made exceptions. I know one girl personally and she had a 2.46

Correction. At your current university, a minimum of a 2.0 is required for intake. If an organization's national GPA is higher, they will not lower their standards; however, if the school requires a minimum GPA higher than the organization's, the organization will abide by the school's GPA requirement for the chapter at that school.

This isn't related to the type of fraternity/sorority you are joining (NPHC, NPC, MC, etc.), but is a general question about balancing your academics with a potentially time-consuming membership. (So I don't think that it's swerving).

You're a junior with a 2.492 average. Do you work in addition to attending school? Do you have a demanding course load? Do you have other time commitments that affect your academic performance?

I'm not asking for "excuses", but what do you think the reasons are why your GPA is lower? Are these circumstances under your control? Outside of your interests in Greek membership, do you have a desire and plan to improve your grades? In other words, what is lacking or happening that is preventing you from getting better grades, and what can you do to improve your grades? What would/can you do to maintain those grades if you were given the opportunity to take on the commitment of membership?

Not to sound like a bad pun, but the GPA line may be much less malleable than a line in the sand. Some in the know have suggested that there may be little to no wiggle room or rounding up. So what can/will you do to earn better grades?

(We often ask women who are re-rushing after unsuccessful recruitments what they have done to improve themselves for the next time around, so this is kind of the same question.)

I've always looked at minimum GPAs as scraping the very bottom of the worst possible barrel. Some folks apparently see it as the beginning of negotiations. If you don't have the GPA maybe it's simply not the right time to pursue membership.

Yeah i do work. I work in the resident halls as the information guide. we basically just get paid to sit there but we get to do homework and stuff while working. This upcoming semester I was only taking 4 classes so it wouldnt be any load. honestly I usually get B's and C's in my classes. Ive never failed a class and Ive gotta 1 D in my 2 years. My grandmother died last august which effected me.
