Battle of the Uhh...well Geek vs Nerd
which is which?
Obsessive behavior vs social ineptitude.
Non conformist vs unappreciated genius
Dorks and dweebs are invited too...

I'd much rather geek out - social ineptitude is wiggety wack. Can we post pics of our favorite geeks and nerds?
I'm gonna do it anyway.

I see it as this: Nerds are smart. Geeks are obsessive (can be in a good way) over something whether it's computers, games, the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow or Monty Python.
We're allies, and often the same people. Silly to fight.

Are you talking about an African swallow or a European swallow?
It matters, and it's all a matter of weight ratios.
Meanwhile, my son would be quick to tell you that this is the original and only true nerd:

My first day on the job in this department of Biostatisticians, the topic at lunch was "what's the difference between a geek and a nerd?". The concensus was that nerds are socially inept, geeks are just highly focused in one area.

I'm a spaz. I don't have the attention span to be either a nerd or geek. So I'm just a spaz.

I agree with this assessment. And I think the "highly focused in one area" often tends to be an area others shy away from. Personally, I would say I'm not a nerd and I'm not a geek overall- but I will totally geek out with some topics. And I am more than okay with that.
tld wins with the best nerd & geek combo- Sheldon is totally both. Socially awkward and highly focused in sciency things. And he's awesome. I have long admired MysticCat's signature (Bazinga!) because it reminds me of the show. Besides, any show with a custom Barenaked Ladies theme song is pretty darn cool. /geek
