CNN confirmed--That thing is real!!
http://www.cnn.com/2010/WORLD/americ...ion=cnn_latest

Jesus be a really really really really really big fence. This is heartbreaking but at least no deaths have been reported since it happened (not from the hole anyway).

According to the article, people have been complaining of weak structures and shifting ground since 2005. Now that the hole is open, some say it sounds like there's an underground river down there. Oy vey.

Here's a question...

How do you fix something like that?

Because you can fix anything with Duct tape! You can suspend someone upside down from a board, you can make a cannon, you can patch a boat (before it gets in the water), you can *make* a sailboat (episode 1), you can stop a car from moving with it, you can *try* (and fail) to stop a moving car with it, you can make a bridge over a 50 foot chasm with it (episode 2).

We need to send the Mythbusters to Guatemala *stat*.

Fair, but it's a credited photograph being used everywhere, and there's video too.

Moreso, since random screen names are quoted in the article. o_O

/sidebar: I was watching it briefly the other day and had the absolute pleasure of seeing a 7 minute presentation on an app that allows you to lift the oil spill and place it over your city so that you can understand how large it is. This is news?/

Why is there no fence around this ridiculously large hole in the ground that inevitably leads to death?

That is my first thought too. This one looks too neat and clean.

I definitely put my face up to the screen and went "daaaaaamn son!"[/QUOTE]

That's kinda what I said, but more like "Oh Shit!! "

Of course! It's ground water!

You don't. Just put a big fence around it and let nature have her way.

What about trying the "junk shot" method that BP wanted to use with the oil spill? Just fill the hole with old tires and golf balls and then pave right over it!
