The last two episodes have been lacking in the very thing that I really enjoyed about the earlier episodes of "Glee" - the strong group numbers, the interactions all over the place (the phone call among all of the kids except Rachel, Finn, Puck and Quinn, when they wanted to keep Rachel from finding out that Puck's the baby's father) and the pacing (jumping from story to story in the same episode).

I know that they need to develop some of the story lines, but focusing on just one or two story lines in a single episode...slows...everything...way...down... I'm not used to seeing that on Glee. Maybe doing it once or twice to shake up the devices that they use to tell the stories, but not consecutively.

I get that the show is trying to reflect the way things pan out in real life - like Kurt and his dad navigating Kurt's coming out, or Rachel's coming to terms with growing up without a mom - in real life, this stuff can't be resolved in a day or two. That is one thing I really enjoy about Glee - they managed to do it well with quick-paced action and dialogue, interspersed with moments of quiet and reflection. Why are they changing it now?

I completely agree. These back 9 have been focusing on one or two story lines. I think thats what made the first 12 so good, is that it jumped around. One episode my friend goes "Where's Finn?" cause he wasn't in any of it and had about one line. I know guest stars can only stay on so long so tahts why they had to push the Idina and Lea story line but still.

Hopefully it will change now that they know they're on for at least two more seasons.

There are some of us who considered that a major trade up. My reaction to the preview of the Gaga episode was "well, I guess they had to do it sooner or later, so let's get it over with."

Yes, in the first episode. One is white and one is black.

For my money, "Home" (with "A House is Not a Home," "One Less Bell to Answer," and "Beautiful") and "Dream On" (with "Dream On," "Safety Dance" and "I Dreamed a Dream") have been by far the best episodes recently.

Agreed, but don't forget how awesome the Madonna episode was!

It was alright to me. I loved the "Vogue" video, but even in the 80s I wasn't a big Madonna fan.

I had to remind my Glee-obsessed sister about this because she forgot that the picture of them was introduced after Rachel explains that they mixed her dads' sperm together so no one would know who the dad actually was. Then photo reveal.

I wonder if they were any actors in particular or if we'll have a magic re-cast + possible DVD photo edit should they show up.

I HATE the HOME episode. Listening to folks butchering what are normally tear-jerking soul classics is not my idea of a good time.

Ah well, everyone has different tastes. I thought all of the performances in that episode were great. What did you think was butchered? (And if it's by Burt Bacharach and Hal David, which many of the songs in that episode were, does it qualify as a soul classic?)

I am more familiar with the version of A House Is Not A Home by Luther Vandross who probably has made it "the most popular" more recently.

Also while there are those that worship at the altar of KC, I found her version of "Home" to be... well...I had to turn of the TV. She just seemed to be hacking her way through it, but I'm sure she gave a brave effort. I normally can sit through her songs.
I always cry at the end of "The Wiz". Diana Ross. Done.

I do really like his version, but Dionne Warwick's is always the first that comes to mind for me. I guess I'm old enough (a child of the 60s and the early 70s) that I remember lots of versions of it.

Again -- I'm one of them who worships at that altar.

See, I hate, hate, hate with a red hot passion the movie of "The Wiz." I was so disappointed in that movie. And I couldn't stand Diana Ross in it at all -- way too old to be Dorothy.

"The Wiz" was the first show I ever saw on Broadway. Stephanie Mills gave me chills at the end when she sang "Home" -- still does when I listen to the CD. (And the arrangement that KC did on Glee is, except for the choral back-up, almost exactly the same arrangement as Stephanie Mills' from the show.) I thought the movie absolutely butchered the show. So I guess we've both got issues with butchering.

But it's all good. It'd be a boring world if we all liked the same things.

Agree completely. Madonna episode being #3. I like some story and character development with my singing, and I like it when they weave song into their daily lives and not just in Glee Club practice...but I like musicals, too. I've noticed that kids/teens seem to like the modern music/most of the action happens in the school/lots of Finn and Rachel episodes, whereas 30-somethings and up seem to like the deeper storylines and meaningful songs by multiple characters in different scenarios. I can't stand Finn's singing, and I wish they had LESS of him. And as much as I love Rachel's voice, her neurotic character is really grating on me.
